Job advertised due to `special circumstances'
advertised in Bermuda due to special circumstances.
Telecommunications Minister John Barritt yesterday said the advertisement's early appearance was due to The Globe and Mail running a special supplement on telecommunications last Tuesday.
The advertisement was for a $94,000 position of a telecommunications consultant.
"A couple of months ago, on advice, we decided to try to second someone to help us move from a monopoly to a competitive environment,'' he explained.
He said they were informed that the Canadian newspaper was putting out a special supplement on telecommunications and "quickly'' moved to get an advertisement in.
Mr. Barritt said the position would last for two to three years and will be advertised in Bermuda in the next couple of weeks.
