The Mako IV was alerted by Harbour Radio after the 19-foot Wellcraft, with two on board, reported engine problems.
A spokesman for Harbour Radio said the boat's battery was flat and the Mako IV towed it to Somerset Bridge.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m.
In a separate incident, also on Saturday, the Marine Police patrol boat Heron IV was called in after a report of a Hobie Cat catamaran adrift near Green Bay in Harrington Sound.
Officers found no-one on board and secured the boat before leaving.
