Police said the 18-year-old St. George's man assaulted a Police officer and tried to run after being stopped in connection with a suspected drugs transaction.

The incident happened in the Mount Road area of St. David's around 11.30 p.m.

on Friday.

A Police spokesman said inquiries into the incident were continuing and that the man was expected to appear in court on a date yet to be fixed.
