Court on six charges of sexual assault.

The man appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis yesterday where he elected to stand trial at the higher court.

The man, who cannot be named, is charged with sexually assaulting six female passengers on the cruise ship, The Meridian , where he used to work.

Mr. Francis granted the man $3,000 bail with a like surety. He is also required to report to Police three times a week.

REPORT ORDERED FOR TEENAGE THIEF CTS Report ordered for teenage thief Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis this week ordered a social inquiry report to be carried out on a St. George's teenager who stole a visitor's handbag.

Dwayne Hayward, 16, of Ferry Road, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said a visitor from Washington was playing golf with her husband at the Belmont Hotel Golf Course on the afternoon of January 21.

The woman and her husband went to putt at the 13th tee, leaving her handbag in the unattended golf cart, Sgt. Osborne said.

Her husband heard the golf cart start and noticed two boys, one of whom was Hayward, driving it away.

The couple began to chase the cart and told the boys to stop.

The boys stopped about 75 yards from where they started, abandoned the cart, and fled into the trees, Sgt. Osborne said.

When the woman reached the cart she noticed that her handbag was missing. The contents were was worth $3,120.

Mr. Francis remanded Hayward in custody until September 13 when the social inquiry report was expected to be completed.

POSSESSING CNANNABIS COSTS MAN $250 CTS Possessing cannabis costs man $250 Possessing cannabis on two separate occasions cost a 22-year-old Hamilton Parish man $250.

Keith Lee, of My Lords Bay Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court this week to two counts of possessing cannabis.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Police saw Lee sitting under a tree with a paper envelope at Shelly Bay Beach on April 19.

When Police asked Lee what he had in the envelope he told them it was herb, Sgt. Osborne said.

A search revealed that Lee also had a homemade cigarette.

He was arrested and a analysis of the plant material proved it to be .22 grams of cannabis.

Sgt. Osborne said Police later saw Lee on May 19 at 1.30 a.m. on Victoria Street in Hamilton. He was acting suspiciously.

Police searched Lee and found a half-smoked cigarette in his hat.

When Police asked him what it was Lee told them it was "just a spliff''.

The contents of the cigarette was found to be .05 grams of cannabis.

Lee told the court he was smoking on the first occasion because he was stressed out by his great grandmother's recent death.

He said he found the second cigarette in a bag.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined Lee $100 on the first count and $150 on the second count.

DISQUALIFIED FOR DRUNKEN DRIVING CTS Disqualified for drunken driving A 48-year-old Pembroke man who was caught driving with more then twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood was this week fined $450 and taken off the road for a year.

Janusz Wypior, of North Shore Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said Wypior was involved in a single-vehicle road accident on August 3 at 1.50 a.m.

When Police arrived they noticed that Wypior smelled of liquor and that he was unstable on his feet, Sgt. Osborne said.

A breath analysis showed that Wypior had 186 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
