The 34-year-old father-of-two also received a 60-day prison sentence when he appeared in court on Friday.

This, however, is to run concurrently with a jail term he is already serving for not paying child maintenance.

Outerbridge, of Anchorage View, St. George's, admitted 15 charges -- the majority of them for not having necessary safety gear, such as flashlights, flares, life-jackets and oars. Some counts were for failing to have a registration number properly embossed on the boat.

Magistrate Arthur Hodgson fined him $100 for each offence.

He fined him a further $500 and imposed a prison term for the 16th allegation he admitted -- using fish pots without a licence.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Marine Police uncovered the offences in Narrows Channel off St. George's in October.
