But he was not given any additional time off the road.

Lavince Ellis, 28, of 50 Slip Road, Wellington Drive, who was currently serving a six-month disqualification from all motorcycles, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Crown counsel Oonagh Goodred told the court that around 1.20 a.m. on August 10 Police stopped Ellis along North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish.

They found out that he had been disqualified from riding motorcycles since May 9.

However, Ellis questioned the validity of the offence, claiming motorcycles were between 80cc and 100cc.

The cycle he was stopped on was 75cc.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked the defendant: "What is an auxiliary cycle?'' "A 50cc bike Sir,'' Ellis replied.

"Well then, 75 is more than 50,'' Mr. Warner said. "Which makes your bike a motorcycle.

"You knew it was a motorcycle you were riding.'' But Ellis intervened: "Sir, if I had known that, I wouldn't have spent $5,000 on a new bike.'' Warner fined him and kept the disqualification in effect until November 9.
