The victim, a 34-year-old Smith's man, told Police that earlier in the evening a row had broken out between him and another man. He described how the man, a 25-year-old from St. David's, returned to his residence at around 7 a.m. and gained entry.
He was said to be holding a machete over the victim and his girlfriend as they slept and, when the man awoke, another struggle broke out. Although losing control of the machete during the attack, the culprit did manage to wound the victim just under the eye with a knife before escaping. The victim was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
