Man in ICU after stabbing

Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit after he sustained stab wounds to his chest, arm, and pelvic area.

Police said the man was stabbed during a fight with another man at a residence on Reid Street in Hamilton around 9.30 Wednesday night.

A 31-year-old Smith's Parish man is in Police custody in connection with the incident and a Magistrates' Court appearance is expected soon.

Mr. Davis, who works as a stone specialist on the Cathedral restoration project, tried to downplay the event that landed them in the hospital for checks.

Mr. Davis, who will honeymoon on the Island, has been in Bermuda working on the Cathedral for eight months. He thought the project would be finished in another month.

FLICK KNIFE COST TEENAGER $200 CTS Flick knife cost teenager $200 A 16-year-old Pembroke resident caught with a prohibited weapon was fined $200 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Jermaine Orr, of Swan's Bay Hill, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to having a flick knife, a prohibited weapon, on April 11.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said officers spotted Orr on Court Street at 8.35 p.m.

He said the officers stopped the youth as he appeared nervous and began fidgeting with something in the waistband of his track suit bottoms.

Insp. Duffy said because of Orr's behaviour and the area he was in, the officers decided to search him on suspicion of drug possession. It was during the search that they found the knife.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered that the weapon be retained and destroyed.

Edwin Broadley of Princess Street, Pembroke, admitted he swore while on Princess Street on April 18. However he said he was not swearing to officers present at the time, but to a man who walked into his home uninvited.

"The individual walked into my door and my lady friend was there looking at television,'' he said. "I was cursing at the guy about walking into my building.'' Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said officers on patrol saw Broadley sitting in the area and stopped to observe his actions.

He said Broadley then told the officers: "Get off my corner'', before swearing.
