Kumah Smith, 18, of Slippery Hill, St. George's, admitted the charge.

Police prosecutor Sgt. John Dale told the court that on March 10 an off-duty Police officer was walking down Duke of York Street when he heard someone calling him "faggot''.

He approached a group of youths standing nearby and one of them admitted he had called the officer a "faggot'', and shoved him. The officer then arrested him for assault.

Smith admitted pushing the officer, but denied calling him a "faggot''.

"I was up there and a cop thought I said it. So he came to me. When I told him no I didn't say it, he stayed in my face. I pushed him and said get out of my face.''
