Pembroke man $300 yesterday.

Jomar Caines, of Union Street, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court that he and three other individuals stole four chicken dinners and other foodstuffs from a Trinity Chicken delivery person.

Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Trinity Chicken in the Union Building in Pembroke received a telephone order to send four chicken dinners to a Cherry Hill, Pembroke resident on May 16.

After going to the residence and being told that no-one at that address had ordered any chicken, the delivery person left.

But Sgt. Grant said while the driver was leaving the area, he was kicked off his motorcycle and surrounded by four males who stole the thermal delivery bag with the chicken in it.

The employee saw Caines at a later date and went to Police.

Caines admitted to Police his role in the incident and identified the others involved.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis told Caines: "This sort of thing will not be tolerated. It is not robbery but it is getting close to robbery.'' Jahnia Thompson, of Cottage Ville, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing Vaseline, baby lotion, and cocoa butter from The Phoenix Centre on Queen Street.

According to Prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant, the store's detective confronted Thompson outside the store.

Thompson saw a Police car traveling west on Queen street toward the store and ran away.

As Police pursued Thompson, he threw the items away, Sgt. Grant said.

After Police caught Thompson he told them that he needed the stolen items, worth $10, to take care of road rash.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered Thompson to pay a fine of $50 or spend five days in prison.

EMPLOYEE STOLE FOOD FROM STORE CTS Employee stole food from store Stealing $23.53 worth of property from the grocery store where he worked resulted in a 25-year-old Paget man being fined $100 yesterday.

Robert Buckler, of Barnes Valley, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing $23.53 worth of property from The MarketPlace in Shelly Bay.

According to prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant, Buckler -- a MarketPlace employee -- bought $16 worth of goods on September 20 and rested them in a freezer.

Sgt. Grant said Buckler put more items into the bag. And as he tried to leave the store he was stopped by a manager.

Asked if he had anything to say, Butler told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis: "I have probably lost my job''.

ROAD CLOSED TFC Roads closed Police yesterday reminded the public that roads in Southampton will be closed during the International Triathlon on Sunday.

The triathlon includes a 1.5-kilometre swim at the Whaler Inn, a 40-kilometre cycle race beginning and ending at Horseshoe Bay parking lot, and a 10-kilometre run starting in the same location and ending at the Southampton Princess Hotel golf club.

During the race, South Road from Middle Road to Camp Road, Lighthouse Road, St. Anne's Road and Church Road will all be closed to normal traffic from 7.45 a.m. to about 11 a.m. and bus service will be suspended, Police said.

After the race, the first bus will leave Dockyard heading to Hamilton via South Road, at 10.50 a.m.

Parking for the event will be available at the lower level of Horseshoe Beach parking lot, Southampton Rangers Club, Warwick Camp, and Warwick Beaches parking lot.
