Rodland Troy Outerbridge, 35, pleaded guilty to stealing a video recorder from his brother's home on September 24.
He then sold it on Court Street for $50 to buy crack cocaine.
On September 30, Senior Magistrate William Francis ordered a social inquiry report and a psychiatric report for Outerbridge who was then remanded in custody at Westgate Correctional Facility until yesterday.
When Outerbridge appeared for sentencing yesterday, Mr. Francis told him: "Having regard to the six weeks you have already spent on remand, the social inquiry and the psychiatric reports, I am sentencing you to three months in prison suspended for 12 months.''
