commanding officer of the Bermuda Regiment.

The Bermuda Industrial Union president and Progressive Labour Party MP defended Sen. David Burch for his comments made about the present difficulties at the Regiment.

And the MP went as far as calling for the resignation of Opposition MP Michael Dunkley for his remarks saying that Sen. Burch should quit or be disciplined.

During Friday's House of Assembly debate, Mr. Burgess said it was improper for the Devonshire South MP to suggest that Sen. Burch should resign.

"I am calling for his (Mr. Dunkley's) resignation,'' said Mr. Burgess.

He said Sen. Burch had given good service to the country and was well qualified to say what he did about the Regiment.

Mr. Dunkley said he has shaken hands with Mr. Burgess, who had told him the resignation remarks were made in jest.

The Shadow Minister of Home Affairs added: "I was elected by the people of Bermuda and I stand by my comments.''
