Home Affairs Minister Quinton Edness will open debate on the Proceeds of Crime Bill, which aims to give the law enough teeth to seize the assets of people who profit by crime and wash out hopes of money laundering.

Government Whip Rick Spurling predicted debate on the Bill will take up most of today's session.

Mr. Spurling added that the House of Assembly will meet next Monday and Wednesday as well as Friday in a bid to push through as much business as possible -- including the sure-to-be controversial Green Paper on easing the plight of long-term residents, to be discussed next Friday.

Youth and Sport Minister Tim Smith is expected to make a statement on allegations that a National Sports Centre contractor has business links with Sports Centre chairman Donald Lines. Mr. Smith is expected to say that Government probe has found no improprieties. Story: Page 2
