The Residential Building Code is now available for inspection as part of a new Bermuda Building Code 1998.

It will come into effect in 1999 and aim to make the system as user-friendly as possible.

The code is the result of work from a building code committee, made up of Government and professional organisations.

Environment Minister Harry Soares thanked those who had helped produce the new manuals.

"The new codes will continue to ensure the high quality and safe and sound construction of Bermuda's buildings,'' he said.
