The main change to the paper is that each page is one inch narrower, although its length remains the same. This has been done to reduce the amount of money spent by the Royal Gazette Ltd. on the paper used for printing -- called newsprint -- which has increased dramatically in price over the last two years.

The new width also brings The Royal Gazette in line with many newspapers in North America and should be easier to handle than the old, broader width.

The Royal Gazette has taken advantage of this change to redesign some parts of the newspaper. This includes a new front page highlights column, which now contains more information on the content of the paper.

A similar column is also being run on the front page of Sport, and the Business summary will be expanded tomorrow.
