Nothing to fear from hurricanes -- yet

Weather watchers said Iris was 1,150 nautical miles southeast of the Island at 6 p.m. last night.They predicted it would come within 810 nautical miles of Bermuda at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

They predicted it would come within 810 nautical miles of Bermuda at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

At 6 p.m. last night, Hurricane Humberto, with winds gusting to 110 knots, was some 1,510 nautical miles southeast off Bermuda.

It is expected to be 813 nautical miles southeast of Bermuda on Sunday.

Bermuda's Weather Service last night also reported Tropical Depression Jerry was some 975 nautical miles west southwest off Bermuda. It is not considered a threat to the Island.
