A female inmate at the Co-ed Facility in St. George's made the accusation in January.

The three officers, who returned to work this week, were suspended in March as Police investigated the allegations.

The Attorney General's Chambers filed no charges against the men after the Police probe failed to turn up any evidence.

But the Prisons Department held that they still had to conduct an internal hearing into the matter.

The hearings began last month and were completed last week.

Prisons Commissioner Edward Dyer is on leave. And while no one would divulge the outcome of the hearings, The Royal Gazette understands the men were welcomed back to the job on Monday.

The aggrieved inmate -- a 19-year old British woman -- was transferred to Holloway Prison in London, UK to serve out the remainder of her time.

She was in the second year of her six-year sentence for smuggling $66,000 of heroin into Bermuda.
