viciously attacked a woman's puppy.

Roderick James Raynor, 41, of Sunset View Road, Pembroke, admitted that his pit bull terrier had attacked the puppy.

Prosecuting, Sgt. Kenrick James said the attack happened on December 10, close to Raynor's home.

He said that the pit bull terrier broke free and grabbed the dog. It took the efforts of the owner and a passer-by to release the puppy.

The attack caused injuries to the puppy's abdominal wall and part of the intestine could be seen protruding from the wound, according to Sgt. James.

The puppy was also said to be suffering from partial strangulation when it was treated by a vet.

Raynor, a mechanic at Belco, said that he thought the dog was secure but it had broken free. He said that he had apologised and paid the other owner the cost of the vet's bill.

He said that the pit bull terrier was now more securely fastened.
