Owners announce magazine changes
appear as a series of occasional special-issue reports.
The periodical, a monthly magazine when it was launched by Bermuda Marketing in 1989, has come out every two months since 1991.
Readers have now been told by publisher Mr. Ian Coles that it will now take the form of "several special reports on specific subjects''.
The change, subscribers were told in a letter, follows the company's "ambitious and exciting expansion programme overseas''.
To focus on this "major project'', writes Mr. Coles, the company has had to "reallocate some of our internal resources and rationalise our product lines''.
Planned titles in the coming months include a 1993 new residents' guide and a business "who's who'', he says.
An international business guide is planned for the summer, he adds.
Mr. Coles declined to comment on the changes last night, saying he would make a statement later.
The Harbour Road, Warwick resident started Bermuda Marketing in 1986, after leaving Advertising Associates.
The company's first publication was Island Property News . Its cable guide TV Times came out in 1988.
Bermuda Business was launched to cater for the Island's 1,000 registered local companies and 7,000 international firms.
The shake-up at the magazine is the latest of several major developments at Bermuda Marketing.
At the beginning of the month it announced it would launch a glossy tourism magazine called Bermuda in April.
The 80-page publication would be aimed at reminding past visitors of the Island's qualities and encouraging potential tourists to see for themselves.
Mr. Coles admitted it was an ambitious project, with a planned initial circulation of 40,000, building to 100,000.
The magazine would be mailed to repeat guests by hotels, and sold on newsstands in the US, Canada and the UK.
The quarterly publication is to be full-colour, with articles by top international writers.
The magazine group was also due to announce a new editor earlier this month, following the announcement by Ms Amanda Outerbridge that she will be leaving the post in February.
She is to be the new director of the National Trust, following the resignation last September of Mr. Alwyn McKittrick.
