The parent said the policy at Clearwater Middle School was to send a child home if they had missed handing in three homework assignments.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said his son had fallen foul of this rule despite making an attempt at some of the work.

The parent said his child didn't know how to finish the work.

"I said why was it necessary to send him home but I was told that it was their policy.

"But I said why send him home when it means he will miss another day which he can't make up? He gets even further behind. They can't have thought about this.

"It doesn't make sense. I talked to the school but they don't want to be reasonable about it.'' When contacted by The Royal Gazette , Clearwater principal Charlotte Ming denied it was the school's policy to send children home after they had failed to hand in homework three times running.
