Anthony Douglas, of Glebe Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to the offence.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant said Police on patrol at the junction of South Shore Road and Middle Road in Paget saw Douglas narrowly miss a collision with another car.

They also noticed he was swerving and when they stopped him at Botanical Gardens in Paget, Douglas was unsteady on his feet and his clothes were "dishevelled''.

Douglas begged to be allowed to keep his van licence which he needed for his job as a plumber.

Acting Senior Magistrate Cheryl Ann Mapp told him he should have thought about the consequences of his actions before he decided to drive while impaired.

But she did allow Douglas to keep an auxiliary cycle licence.
