Government Whip Mr. Richard Spurling predicted the sitting would stretch from 10 a.m. until at least midnight. An extra sitting before Christmas was very unlikely because too many MPs had made vacation plans, he said.

Debate is to kick off with Government's "take note'' motion on a Government report on a proposed national pension scheme.

Also expected to provoke considerable debate is The National Sports Centre Trustees Amendment Act 1995, which would transfer National Stadium lands to the proposed sports centre's trustees. The Opposition Progressive Labour Party believes a new site for the sports centre should be found.

The third major item is an Opposition motion, to "take note'' of the Bermuda Police Service strategy devised by Commissioner Mr. Colin Coxall.

Less controversial items expected to be debated today include: The Bermuda Air Terminal (Fees) Amendment Regulations 1995 and the Motor Car Amendment (No. 4) Act 1995.

Mr. Spurling said Government had hoped to debate the report of the Board of Inquiry into the arrest in Miami of seven Under-23 soccer players on drug charges. But concerns remained that the matter could not be debated because it was "sub judice'', or before the courts.

Former Bermuda Football Association Mr. Burkhard Ziese is suing for wrongful dismissal after he was fired in the wake of the scandal.

Other items that will be carried over until the New Year and may include The Criminal Justice (International Cooperation) (Bermuda) Amendment Act 1995, The Constituency Boundaries Order 1995, and several Government and Opposition "take note'' motions.
