The robot Autonomous Benthic Explorer was loaded aboard the Oceanis which will take the submarine to an area 3,000 miles off Bermuda where it will be dropped to the bottom of the Atlantic to use its cameras to search previously unexplored depths. It can stay underwater for up to a year.

The equipment belongs to the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts.
