The post was created after Progressive Labour Party veteran Lois Browne Evans became political Attorney General on April 1.

Following her appointment, Mrs. Browne Evans blasted Governor Thorold Masefield, accusing him of dragging his feet over the appointment of a full-time DPP.

Solicitor General William Pearce is acting DPP until a permanent replacement can be appointed.

The deadline for applicants for the DPP post is May 12.

BAG SNATCHERS STRIKE CRM Bag snatchers strike A woman riding a scooter was the victim of a possible handbag snatch in Southampton on Saturday night.

A 28-year-old woman was riding along St. Anne's Road at 7.10 p.m. with her handbag in the rear basket.

She noticed two black youths riding closely behind her at one point and shortly after realised that her bag was missing.

The bag, minus its contents, was later discovered by a passerby.

Meanwhile, thieves took a stereo system from an unattended car parked in Glenwood Park Crescent, Warwick.

CHARITY WOAKER UNWELL HTH Charity walker unwell Emergency crews assisted a man who became ill during the End to End charity walk on Saturday.

The 38-year-old Hamilton Parish man became tired and developed seizures in the West End.

He was treated by Port Royal Fire Service and Police, until an ambulance arrived to take him to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. He was treated and later released.

JEWELLERY THEFT PROBED CRM Jewellery theft probed Police are investigating two cases of breaking, entering and theft.

A Jackson Drive, Devonshire, residence was unlawfully entered on Thursday and a large quantity of jewellery was stolen.
