Christopher Ward, 23, of Fairhaven Lane in Sandys in the plea session of Magistrates' Court yesterday, after a brief argument where he contended the drugs found did not belong to him, finally accepted responsibility for the offence and pled guilty.

Ward told Acting Senior Magistrate Edward King that the Police found the cannabis under the car and not as they had said, in his right front pocket.

In total the drugs found weighed .34 grams. Ward was fined $250 for possession of the cannabis and a further $1,000 for having it in the increased penalty zone of Spanish Point Park.

Mr. King also ordered that Ward pay the entire fine by May 4 or face 6 months in jail.

A BET televangelist's student denied a breaking and entering charge in Magistrates' Court.

Dwayne Burrows, 40, of South Road in Southampton, told acting Senior Magistrate Edward King to schedule the trial as early as possible because he had to return to the televangelist's college in Texas. "Comes on channel 28 at 8 in the morning,'' said Burrows.

He was released on $1,000 bail and ordered to surrender his travel documents.
