no more errors after issuing a set of inaccurate figures on Tuesday.

Police Commissioner Jean-Jacques Lemay revealed yesterday that he is to re-examine the accuracy of statistics for the past few years and will provide a report for Home Affairs Minister Paula Cox.

The announcement came after Shadow Home Affairs Minister Dunkley said he found the figures hard to believe.

On Tuesday Police released third quarter statistics for this year in which the tallies on crimes of violence for the previous four years were wrong.

Mr. Lemay said yesterday: "People have said there's questions being asked on our statistics.

"That's causing us to revisit some statistics being provided and I intend to provide a detailed brief for our minister and intend to be able to respond to the media in terms of any inaccuracies that may exist.

"We are going to look at statistics for previous years because if you only look at this year, your next question would be `what about last year and the year before that'?'' Mr. Dunkley said last night: "I fully support it. I was the one who pointed out that there were some inaccuracies.

"If we are going to use figures to make decisions we have to make sure we are operating from a position we believe.''
