crashing and overturning a light garbage truck.

A Police spokesman said: "Several persons were seen running from the area shortly after the accident. We would like to speak to the driver and passengers of the vehicle.'' The accident happened at about 11 p.m. on Saturday on North Shore Road, Smith's Parish. It is believed the driver lost control of the Isuzu truck on the series of bends at Jennings Road, crossed over the westbound carriageway and went up an embankment, which caused it to overturn. No other vehicles were involved.

The truck was badly damaged and the road was closed for several hours as firemen cleared away the wreckage and spilled oil.

Police searched the surrounding area and the nearby beach in a bid to track down the driver or passengers.

The Police spokesman added: "Anyone who witnessed the accident or who may have seen persons driving a white garbage truck earlier in the evening are asked to contact the Police.'' Anyone with information which can assist the inquiry should contact P.c.
