Officers attended the scene shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, and discovered a number of post boxes had been tampered with, and one had been forcibly opened.

An unknown quantity of mail is believed to have been stolen.

Fur coat stolen A thief found a fur coat placed on a mannequin outside a Hamilton store too tempting.

The unknown culprit stole the coat from just outside the entrance to Triangles Ltd. on Queen Street between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

GAS PRICE EDGES UP EGY Gas price edges up The price of gasoline has increased by a cent per litre after last month's decline of more than four cents per litre.

The Minister of Finance announced that gas will go up to $1.24.5 per litre.

Meanwhile diesel falls, by 0.4 cents to $1.02.1 a litre, and kerosene decreases by 0.3 cents a litre to 82.4 cents.

DISPLAY CASE STOLEN CRM Display case stolen A display case was stolen from the Centre for Alcohol and Drug Abuse (CADA) on Reid Street some time this month.

The complainant said that the black-framed case was last seen on November 7, and was discovered missing a week later.

And a thief forced his way into Ward's Locksmiths on Trott Road in Pembroke some time on Saturday night.

Police attended the scene at 7.20 a.m. yesterday and discovered an amount of cash was removed from a folder inside.

CHURCH BREAK-IN ARREST CRM Church break-in arrest A 30-year-old Pembroke man was arrested in connection with a break-in at the Wesleyan Methodist Church on Church Street in Pembroke on Thursday.

Central Division officers made the arrest after receiving a report that a man was seen climbing out of one of the church's windows at about 7.45 p.m.

Based on the description, the officers arrested a man on Court Street and took him to Hamilton Police Station.

PROBE CONTINUES CRM Probe continues Detectives are continuing to investigate a violent attack on a woman just yards from her home last weekend.

The 29-year-old woman needed hospital treatment after being grabbed after she stepped out of her car at about 2.30 a.m. on Saturday in Riddells Bay Road, Warwick.

She struggled with the attacker and made it up a steep set of steps to her front door, where she could unleash her dogs.

She believes one of the dogs bit the attacker before he fled.
