D.C. today for another round of talks concerning the clean up of the Baselands.

The pair met last week with US Senators and Congressmen who are considered friends of Bermuda and would be asked to lobby for Bermuda as a last resort.

Ms Gordon said "good advice and encouraging support'' were received during those meetings.

Talks during the duo's second trip to the US are scheduled with Secretary of the Navy John Dalton; Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy William Cassidy Jr.; and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Navy Robert Pirie who is responsible for environmental matters.

There are also tentative plans afoot for Ms Gordon to meet with US President Bill Clinton in the near future.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ABUSE REPORT POL Police investigate abuse report The Police are investigating a report of child abuse at a Front Street restaurant on Saturday afternoon.

It is understood that a man beat a child in front of staff and patrons at Belly Busters before leaving with the child on a motor cycle. The cycle's registration number is believed to have been passed onto Police.

A Police spokesman yesterday confirmed that an investigation into an incident at the restaurant was underway.
