The increase -- which will bring the price of both the Island's only daily and its sister weekend paper to 60 cents -- is due to the rising cost of newsprint.

Advertising in the papers will also increase on average about 2.5 percent.

Earlier this month, the Bermuda Sun also announced that copies of the weekly will increase on April 7.

But the Sun's general manager Mr. Randy French said neither the increase in the cover price nor details about advertising rates had been finalised.
