Brendan's secure custody ward, managed to slip past Prison Service officers and walk free Wednesday evening.

Hospital spokesperson Kendaree Burgess-Fairne told The Royal Gazette the prisoner "was only gone a short while,'' before being recaptured.

It appeared he walked out three locked doors before disappearing through a back door.

While refusing to identify the escapee, Ms Burgess-Fairne stressed he was under Prison Service supervision. "But the Hospital will certainly be investigating how this happened,'' she said.

He passed on the message to his brother, who apparently forgot to inform one very worried Mrs. Brown.

CAR OVERTURNS IN SOUTHAMPTON AC Car overturns in Southampton A car suffered an estimated $1,900 in damages yesterday when it overturned on Church Road in Southampton.

Details were sketchy last night but a Bermuda Fire Service spokesman reported that the driver did not set the hand brake. One fire truck responded to the scene at 12.41 p.m.

No injuries were reported and no further information was available.
