a 33-year-old mother who admitted cultivating and knowingly handling cannabis.

Mr. Brown heard that Police searched Suzanna L. A. Thomas, of Spring Benny Road, Sandys, near a recreation club in Sandys on April 13.

They found plant material in an envelope in Thomas' pants pocket.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said officers also searched Thomas' home and found 20 seeds in a film container and 70 seedlings about three inches tall in a bedroom. The cannabis weighed 9.20 grams in total.

At the time, Thomas told Police she was "very sorry this happened''.

However, Thomas -- who is a domestic worker -- denied possessing drug equipment, namely cigarette papers.

Mr. Brown ordered Thomas, who was already on bail, to return to court on October 25 for sentencing.

Tracey A. Lema, of Roberts Avenue, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to using offensive words.

Lema told Acting Magistrate the Wor. Kenneth Brown Police stopped him in Pembroke on August 24 because he was driving his friend's car which fitted the description of a car in a hit-and-run accident.

But Lema said Police acted in an aggressive manner and that there was no reason for him to be stopped in the manner in which he was.

Noting that Lema had no previous offences, Mr. Brown fined him $100.

JAIL SENTENCE HANDED DOWN FOR THEFT CTS Jail sentence handed down for theft Stealing a pair of jeans from a Court Street store resulted in a 37-year-old man, who is already serving time for other offences, receiving a one-month prison sentence.

John Sinclair Anderson, of Orchard Grove, Pembroke, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing a pair of green jeans worth $68 from the 2001 store on December 13 after trying them on.

The court heard that a store clerk saw Anderson walk out of the store with the green jeans on under a pair of blue ones that he had on when he entered the store.

The next day the salesperson saw Anderson wearing the jeans and questioned him about where he bought them.

Anderson claimed he bought them at another store.

Acting Magistrate the Wor. Kenneth Brown sentenced Anderson to one month in prison which will run concurrently with an 18-month sentence he is serving.

MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT CTS Man charged with sexual assault A Pembroke man charged with sexual assault has been given permission to go on a vacation to the Virgin Islands with his wife.

The 54-year-old man, who has been charged with sexually assaulting a Pembroke woman on June 19, was not required to enter a plea in Magistrates' Court this week.

His case was committed to Supreme Court on October 2 when he will be arraigned.

The defendant's lawyer, Mr. Michael Scott, told Acting Magistrate the Wor.

Kenneth Brown that his client had already purchased airline tickets to the Virgin Islands which were non-refundable.

Scott said his client was scheduled to be off the Island from October 7 to 15 and he provided the court with a copy of his itinerary.

Crown counsel Miss Jo-dina Pearman had no objections to the accused being off the Island for 10 days.
