British Valour a week after engine failure left the tanker drifting 100 miles to the southeast of Bermuda.

The US tug, Powhatan arrived in Bermuda on Saturday and picked up fuel, water, engineers and parts, and then rendezvoused with the stricken oil tanker at approximately midnight on Saturday.

Engineers and parts were safely transferred and the damage assessed, and repairs started.

A Harbour Radio spokesman said the tug boat will stand by on the scene in case further assistance is needed, and after repairs have been completed, engineers will decide on the next move.

There has been no indication of how long the repairs will take.

The 1127 foot ship, fully loaded with 300,000 tones of North Sea Crude Oil was en route from Norway to Freeport Texas when the engine casualty occurred.

None of the 22 crewmen were injured in the accident and the vessel is now located 160 miles east south east of the Island.
