Suja Amon Muhammad, 24, of Scott's Hill Road, was due to be sentenced in Supreme Court last week after pleading guilty to assaulting Charles Christopher on December 13 last year. Mr. Christopher, who was knocked unconscious in the beating, is still receiving medical treatment for his injuries. But at last week's hearing, defence attorney Richard Hector asked for sentence to be postponed so that a social inquiry report on Muhammad could be carried out.

Chief Justice Austin Ward postponed proceedings until June 1.

Russell Dey, 30, had to be forcibly removed from his bike after leading Police on a chase from Crow Lane to Harbour Road early on April 16.

He had been spotted driving out of Hamilton with no crash helmet at around 4 a.m.

And he was finally stopped after leading Police to Harbour Road via Trimingham Hill, Rural Hill and Strawberry Hill.

Sgt. Phil Taylor, prosecuting, offered no evidence when Dey pleaded not guilty to drink-driving. But he said Dey had to be pulled off his bike after being stopped, adding that the defendant had already shouted at Police: "Why are you harassing me? I haven't done anything.'' Police discovered he was banned from driving for two years in June 1998, for speeding at 78 kph.

Dey, of Link Lane, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and failing to take a breath test.

He was banned for three years and fined $600 for failing to give a breath test and disqualified for another year and fined $300 for driving while officially off the road.

Thirty-two-year-old Andrew Mello, from Paget, handed over 5.82 grams of the drug when he was stopped in his car by Police at 9.30 p.m. on January 6.

Sgt. Phil Taylor, prosecuting, said Mello took the cannabis out of his jeans pocket when he was stopped in his Subaru on the corner of Dundonald and King streets.
