Details about the attack are vague but a Police spokesman confirmed they are looking into the attack.

"Somerset detectives are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault which is alleged to have taken place on Friday afternoon involving a 12-year-old girl,'' the spokesman said.

He said the incident is believed to have occurred in Sandys parish.
