(WEDCO) to the Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC) in St. David's.

Effective March 1, Mr. Smith will join the BLDC as the Chief Executive Officer, replacing Carl Musson who resigned in January.

The move now leaves a vacancy at the helm of the WEDCO. BLDC chairman Calvin White said he was delighted that Mr. Smith had agreed to join the company which was responsible for managing four former military base properties at Southside, Morgan's Point, Tudor Hill and Daniels Head.

"Mr. Smith is a proven performer who knows how to move an organisation forward,'' Mr. White said. "He also brings to the company invaluable experience in property management and development. We are also impressed with his record in enhancing the commercial and recreational attractiveness of Dockyard.

"This will be particularly important in attaining our dual mandate to reintegrate the properties into the fabric of our community and to replace the revenues that were lost when they vacated.'' Mr. Smith serves on the Board of Tourism, the Ports Authority and the Board of Governors of the Bermuda Employers Council.
