and beach volleyball on the island's new courts Youth, Sports and Recreation director Mr. Brenton Roberts announced yesterday.

Both the Ministries of Youth, Sports and Recreation and Works and Engineering combined to build two new basketball courts and a new beach volleyball court on the island.

Mr. Roberts said the $100,000 project was "for the benefit of our young people''.

Minister of Works and Engineering, the Hon. Leonard Gibbons, told The Royal Gazette "all the materials had to be barged over which made it expensive''.

And he said he hoped the young people would enjoy the new facilities but not abuse them.

Mr. Gibbons also praised East End Asphalt and Leo Seymour Construction for the "fine work'' they had done on the project.

He said the next project for the island would be to put a new roof on the old terminal building to act as a water catch.

This, he explained, meant that Government would no longer have to take water, for the campers, over to the island by barge.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Recreation the Hon. Pamela Gordon said she was "extremely excited'' about how Government had honoured the commitment it had made in its General Election Blueprint to improve recreational sites around the Island.
