a pair of scissors will be sentenced on Monday.

Oshea Tucker, of Brooklyn Lane, Pembroke, has admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Hadley Eugene Tucker, also 16.

Yesterday Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp adjourned sentence after hearing closing submissions from the prosecution and defence.

The incident occurred on March 27 after the two teenagers argued over an umbrella.

At a previous hearing the court was told how a fight broke out in the school's workroom.

Tucker stabbed his schoolmate twice in the right thigh after being gripped in a headlock.

The scissors lacerated an artery, and Hadley Tucker needed treatment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Sgt. Earl Kirby, prosecuting, yesterday described the injuries as minor -- but the offence as serious.

Sgt. Kirby suggested to Ms Mapp a conditional discharge would be an appropriate sentence.

Mr. Timothy Marshall, defending, urged Ms Mapp to give Tucker an absolute discharge.

He said the court case had been a "frightening'' experience for his client.

Being arrested and quizzed by Police, and then forced to explain himself to his parents had been traumatic and the case could harm Tucker's future prospects.

"In all likelihood there is every indication that there will never be a repetition of a criminal offence in future,'' he said.
