received a suspended prison sentence.

Roy Alfonso Burgher was sentenced by Magistrate Ed King following his conviction on two offences leading from the incident, which happened last year.

Burgher, 37, of Glebe Road, Pembroke, was found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and using threatening behaviour against Ian Jason Simmons-DeSilva.

In addition, Burgher was found not guilty on a third charge of unlawful assault.

The other man involved in the incident, Ian Jason Simmons-DeSilva, 23, of Kings Gate Lane, Pembroke, was found not guilty of unlawful wounding Burgher.

The two men who became involved in a brawl following a road accident at the junction of Glebe Road and Parsons Road.

In his judgment Mr. King said Mr. Simmons-DeSilva was knocked off his bike by Burgher who was driving his car. There was an altercation and Burgher ran to his car and brought back a pair of garden shears.

A scuffle ensued whilst he had the implements in his hands.

Shortly after he returned home and returned to the scene with a machete. By then a crowd had gathered and the Police had arrived.

Burgher was stabbed in the incident and Mr. Simmons-DeSilva was also hurt.

For having an offensive weapon, Burgher was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years. For using threatening behaviour, he was fined $500.

In addition, Burgher, a landscape gardener, faces trial on a charge of possession of cocaine on October 22.
