The 46-year-old Devonshire victim suffered cuts and abrasions on his legs, hands and face and two broken ribs.

The incident happened just before 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday on Point Finger Road in Paget. Police have arrested the driver.

Meanwhile, Police are appealing for witnesses to a May 18 taxi driver robbery at Jennings Land Road in Smith's.

The victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed at 11 p.m. by two young males who fled on foot. The driver was bleeding from the mouth and had severe swelling on the side of his head.

They apparently beat the man about the head with a motorcycle muffler and also stabbed him with a kitchen utensil.

In the other incident, a man lost several teeth after he was knocked down by a man with an unidentified object as he rode on the Railway Trail in Sandys.

The victim reported to Police he was riding his motorcycle near Bob's Valley Lane, shortly after 1 a.m. when an unknown person struck him with an object.

He fell off his cycle and the robber took his cell phone and left the area on foot.

800-POUND SAFE STOLEN CRM 800-pound safe stolen An 800-pound safe containing cheques and other papers was stolen from an office at a Bailey's Bay quarry over the weekend.

Police are also investigating the theft of cash from a Warwick home on Tuesday.

The resident of the Tribe Road No. 2 home said she returned from work and saw someone had entered her home. Later she found cash had been taken from a bedroom drawer.

MIDDLE ROAD CLOSED TFC Middle Road closed A section of Middle Road will be closed to traffic from tonight until Sunday evening for construction work.

The eastbound part of Middle Road, between St. Paul's Lane and Valley Road, will be shut while Works and Engineering crews carry out trenching work.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted along Cobb's Hill Road or Manse Road to either South Road or Harbour Road. The road closes at 7 p.m. tonight and will re-open at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Government said playground equipment was still being upgraded at Death Valley Field playground in Port Royal, Southampton, and at Dark Bottom Playground in St. David's, A spokesperson said the playgrounds would not reopen until safety surfaces were laid.

Under the 1972 Fisheries Regulations, any person caught spear fishing within the mile limit can be fined up to $5,000.
