The Pembroke youth spray painted profanity on the kitchen wall, threw garbage on the floor, and broke a glass table.

He then and spray painted his own bedroom door, threw clothes on the floor, overturned the two beds in the room.

Damion Hewey, of Union Street, yesterday pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to wilfully damaging his mother's house.

Prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette said Hewey ransacked the house while his mother was attending church on June 30 causing $430 worth of damage.

Sgt. Mouchette also said a bed box spring, a plastic container, and the closet door had been burnt when Hewey attempted to burn down the house.

By the time Hewey's mother contacted the Police, Hewey had already turned himself in.

He told Police he tried to set the house on fire because he was mad with his mother over the argument they had.

When Acting Magistrate Kim White asked Hewey if he wanted to say anything to his mother Hewey told her he was sorry.

Another relative, who wept openly in court, hugged Hewey and begged him to give his life to God.

Mr. White ordered a social inquiry report and remained Hewey in custody until August 30 when the report is expected to be completed.
