Two people are expected to be charged in Magistrates' Court this morning with the attempted murder of a five-month-old boy.

An 18-year-old Sandys Parish woman and 28-year-old Pembroke man were arrested earlier this week after the baby, who has yet to be identified, suffered multiple injuries.

The baby, who is listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, suffered multiple fractures to his skull, haemorrhaging of the cranium, a fractured collar bone, and multiple bruises to his head and body.

Police were notified by staff at the hospital when the baby was admitted on Tuesday.

And yesterday Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said Police were grateful for the assistance they had received so far from "concerned'' members of the public.

However, she said they were still "seriously'' appealing to others for assistance with any information which can help the investigation.

The Royal Gazette yesterday learned that neither of the parents were suspects.

A source said the baby was left in the care of a friend and therefore the mother and father were questioned as is normal in such a case.

They were both at the hospital yesterday with other relatives of the baby who is surviving with the aid of a life support system.
