In the first four months of this year, 94,473 visitors arrived at the Civil Air Terminal -- compared with 99,448 last year.

Total arrivals, ship and air combined for the year are 6.3 percent down.

However, competitors to the south appear to be suffering a similar trend. The Bahamas, Barbados and the US Virgin Islands each fell between two and nine percent in the first two months of 1995.

Cruise ship visitors numbered 2,325 for the week April 24 to April 30 compared with 5,187 in 1994.

GOVT. OFFERING TOURS OF THE INCINERATOR GVT Govt. offering tours of the incinerator The Ministry of Works and Engineering is allowing public tours of the Tyne's Bay Incinerator.

The tours, which are being carried out in conjunction with the Bermuda Earth Day Committee on May 6 and 13 from 2 to 5 p.m., will give the public a chance to see the incinerator's control room, turbine engine room, ash bunker, and waste burning area.

Waste management staff will conduct half-hour tours on a first-come basis, starting from the North Shore and Palmetto Road entrances.

All participants must wear flat shoes, shorts or trousers. Children under six will not be allowed. Police will be directing the parking.

BELOC WORKER IS INJURED IN VAN CRASH AC Belco worker is injured in van crash At least one Belco worker was injured Wednesday when a company van collided with a utility pole on Middle Road in Southampton.

The front end of the westbound van struck the pole near the junction with Alton Hill at about 2.10 p.m.

Police said at least one of the two occupants of the van was to be admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

AMERICAN VISITOR CAUGHT WITH GRASS TOU American visitor caught with grass A 40-year-old US citizen who arrived in Bermuda with marijuana and rolling papers was fined $300 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Dianne P. Yodile, 40, of New York, pleaded guilty to the charges. Sgt. Rex Osborne said Yodile arrived at the Civil Air Terminal on Monday and was stopped by Customs Officers.

"The officers checked her handbag and found 1.92 grams of cannabis and cigarette papers,'' Sgt. Osborne said.

Mr. Francis fined Yodile $200 for the cannabis and $100 for the papers.

OFFICERS ARREST TWO ON DRUGS CHARGES CTS Officers arrest two on drugs charges Narcotics officers, in separate incidents, arrested two men for drug related offences.

In the first incident, a 38-year-old Sandys man was arrested on Court Street on Wednesday morning for possessing drugs.

In the other incident, Police arrested a 33-year-old Dwayne Steede, of Pembroke, at Ord Road in Warwick for obstructing them under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

In Magistrates' Court yesterday Steede pleaded not guilty to obstructing a Police officer and violently resisting arrest.

He was ordered to return to court on August 29 for trial.

POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED ROBBERY CRM Police investigate attempted robbery Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery yesterday morning.

A 43-year-old Pembroke man told Police he was attacked by two men on Angle Street in Pembroke during the early hours of the morning.

He said one of the men placed him in a headlock, threatened him with a "large knife'' and demanded money while the second man began to search the victim's pockets.

Police said the victim, who sustained a "superficial'' cut to his neck, struggled with the men to the ground where an attackers kicked him.

But the victim managed to run off when his attackers were disturbed by a passing Police car.
