Ruquayya Sahar Taalib-din, of North Shore Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to unlawfully assaulting Koresha Robinson on September 7 in Pembroke.

The court heard that at 5 a.m. on the day in question, Taalib-din entered a Deepdale Road home where Ms Robinson was staying with another friend.

She struck Ms Robinson, who was sleeping, with her helmet. After confronting her she then hit her twice more before leaving.

Ms Robinson later complained to Police and said she was having headaches.

Taalib-din admitted beating Ms Robinson, who was once her friend, and Magistrate Edward King asked her what she thought a suitable sentence would be.

The defendant said the incident arose out of a personal situation and happened on the spur of the moment. She said she was sorry for hitting Ms Robinson but did not feel the matter warranted her being incarcerated.

She assured the court that it would never happen again, noting "we were once really good friends''.

Mr. King then bound her over to be on good behaviour for 24 months and warned her: "If you come back before these courts in that time, you may first be dealt with for this matter.''
