Woman attacked twice
will be sentenced in the Supreme Court.
Swain Lightbourne, 33, of Upland Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to causing grievous bodily harm to Sharon Davies of Devonshire.
The incident, which resulted in the victim receiving hospital treatment, took place outside Paw Paws restaurant on South Shore last Saturday night.
Junior Crown counsel Veronica Gordon told Senior Magistrate Will Francis that Lightbourne knocked the woman to the ground, kicked and hit her until customers of the restaurant intervened to stop the attack. The victim suffered a broken nose and injuries to her shoulder and eyes.
When questioned about the incident, Lightbourne said he had attacked Davies because she had stolen $1,500 from him and then denied it, telling him that she did not have any money at all.
When he found she had bought drinks at Paw Paws for herself and a friend, he became angry and started the attack.
The court heard Lightbourne had previous convictions for assault, including an attack on the same woman in April, 1998.
