Delicia Tucker, 27, of Rambling Lane, has been in prison since her arrest at Bermuda International Airport in February, 1998.

She was due to be sentenced in Supreme Court yesterday after pleading guilty to three charges of importing $124,200 worth of heroin, $22,500 worth of cocaine and $3,650 worth of cannabis on a flight from Boston.

But the case took a dramatic turn after lawyer Richard Hector, drafted in at the last minute by Tucker, asked that two of the guilty pleas be reversed.

Now Tucker, who gave birth to a son while in custody, will stand trial for importing heroin and cannabis after pleading not guilty to those two charges.

She maintained her guilty plea to the charge of importing cocaine, but will not be sentenced on that count until after her trial.

Tucker was remanded in custody until May 3 when a trial date will be set.

MAN GRABBED CHILD CTS Man grabbed child A man who grabbed a six-year-old girl and dragged her into his apartment has been put on probation for two years.

Andre Quinton Mussenden, of Paget, took the girl who was playing in her garden and pulled her into his girlfriend's residence.

The girl -- who has had nightmares since the incident -- ran away and later told Police she was touched on the head only and shown around the apartment during the three-minute incident.

The girl's father confronted him, and both parents said they had not given him permission to take her from the yard.

Mussenden, 36, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to unlawful assault on February 23 last year.

Prosecutors said it appeared there had been no sexual contact during the incident but called for assessment by the sexual offenders programme.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered two years' probation after hearing from his lawyer Patricia Harvey and probation staff.

SEWAGE PIPE LEAKS ENV Sewage pipe leaks St. George's residents had to put up with a disagreeable smell on Wednesday afternoon after sewage from a faulty pipe poured into the town's harbour.

The effluent came from a pipe running under King's Square and led straight out to sea.

No one from the Corporation of St. George could be contacted to explain the cause of the leak.

MAN STABBED GIRLFRIEND CTS Man stabbed girlfriend A 40-year-old Devonshire man has admitted wounding his girlfriend.

Kevin Smith denied a second charge of wilfully damaging the woman's property when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.

Smith, of Vesey Street, was accused of being a nuisance to Sheila Tucker, telephoning her all through the night on April 2.

The court heard Smith went to her home and during an argument slapped her in the face and stabbed her hand with a knife. The wound was an inch deep on her left index finger.

During the proceedings, Smith claimed he did not stab Ms Tucker and only acted in self-defence.

"I didn't have a knife, she pulled a knife on me and I blocked it,'' he said.

Smith said he could not have committed the wilful damage of slicing her telephone and cable wires, as he did not have a knife.

Smith was fined $900 and given six months in prison, suspended for a year. A trial on the second charge of wilful damage will be heard later this week.
