Warner on Wednesday after pleading guilty to possession of 3.65 grammes of cannabis.

Ayesha Natasha Ballard of Tribe Road was caught by plain-clothes Police officers on Court Street on January 4.

Prosecutor Cindy Clarke told Magistrates' Court that Ballard drew the attention of two officers who were approaching a man outside the Swinging Doors club when she began to act in a suspicious manner.

An officer approached her and searched her handbag to find a plastic twist containing plant material. The court heard that when Ballard was asked about the item, she replied: "It's marijuana. It's mine.'' MAN GETS CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE CTS Man gets conditional discharge A man arrested for drinking beer from a brown paper bag on Church Street was given a conditional discharge by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner during yesterday morning's plea session in Magistrates' Court.

Dennis Eugene Hodgson, 51, of Harlem Heights, Hamilton Parish pleaded guilty to committing the crime at Nellie's Walk on Church Street at 6.05 p.m. on April 4.

Mr. Warner told Hodgson he would not fine him for the offence and stressed that drinking on the street is illegal.

It was also discovered that Hodgson had an outstanding fine for being drunk and incapable which dated back to 1996. Mr. Warner ordered that the fine be paid immediately or Hodgson would have to spend 15 days in prison.

STUDENT INVOLVED IN BUS BRAWL CTS Student involved in bus brawl Darren Anthony Wilson will soon learn the penalty he will have to pay for brawling on a public bus and kicking a boy in the head.

Wilson, 17, of Wellington Hill, St. George's, yesterday admitted in Magistrates' Court that he assaulted fellow student Teo Burgess while on a public bus on February 9.

The court heard that Wilson kicked Mr. Burgess in the head and caused a two-inch gash to his right cheek while on a bus going home from school.

The incident happened when the bus was in Crawl in Hamilton Parish and Police were called to the scene.

According to Crown counsel Cindy Clarke, Wilson told officers that he considered his action as a move of self defence.

He said he committed the offence as "payback'' because the complainant had hit him earlier that day at school.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner told Wilson that his explanation for the violence was unacceptable and ordered a social inquiry report be carried out.

Mr. Warner released Wilson on $800 bail with a like surety until his sentencing in May.

DRUNK DRIVER `ALMOST FELL OVER' CTS Drunk driver `almost fell over' A Warwick man yesterday pleaded guilty to driving while impaired on St. Mary's Road in Warwick.

Police noticed 37-year-old Kevin Ralph Jones of Hill View Road wobbling as he drove his motorcycle and swerving across the central yellow line on March 9.

Jones was signalled by Police to stop and pulled to the left of the road where Police said he almost fell over.

Police said Jones smelt of alcohol, had slurred speech and his eyes were almost closed. He was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving while impaired.

Jones pleaded guilty and explained that the reason that he was wobbling was due to his hip being sore from a hip operation.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remarked that this had nothing to do with Jones being drunk.

He then fined Jones $600 and disqualified him from all vehicles for twelve months.
