The man, her boyfriend, stood yesterday and told Magistrate Archibald Warner that he and the defendant, Denise Evans, had gone through a miscarriage in January and he had not supported her emotionally.

The man added: "At the time it was pretty traumatic and I didn't show no support. Had I dealt with things different, I doubt she would have found herself in that position.'' Mr. Warner had just heard that Evans, 33, of 18 Curving Avenue, was seen by Police on Angle Street at 12.35 a.m. on January 12 getting into a car.

Crown counsel Leighton Rochester said the car was followed and stopped in Hamilton.

He said Evans was searched and a brown paper twist containing a "rock like'' substance was found in her jacket along with two razor blades.

But Evans told Police that she had borrowed the jacket and that the razor blades were for protection''.

Tests revealed the contents of the paper twist was .25 grams of 82-percent pure crack cocaine. The razor blades also tested positive for cocaine.

Mr. Warner fined Evans $350 for having the crack and $300 for having the razor blades.
