a male acquaintance shortly before 9 a.m. yesterday.

The 24-year-old Sandys Parish woman was hit in the head with a bottle by a knife-wielding man outside White's Supermarket on Middle Road, Warwick, said Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning.

P.c. Venning said the woman's injuries were not serious, but she was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The man fled the scene before Police arrived.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old man was attacked and robbed in Hamilton early yesterday morning.

P.c. Venning said the man was walking on Parliament Street near Church Street around 3.30 a.m. when he was approached by another man from behind.

The victim ignored the man's request for money and continued walking. He was then attacked and after a struggle the assailant escaped with the man's wallet which contained cash and credit cards.

The attacker is described as a dark-skinned male, about 5' 10'' tall and wearing black shorts, a white T-shirt and sneakers.

Witnesses to the incident should contact Hamilton CID at 295-0011.

Police also arrested two men on suspicion of attemtping to break into a carpentry shop yesterday morning. The two men, aged 19 and 24, were arrested on Happy Valley Road around 1.30 a.m. and taken into custody.
