The 39-year-old Pembroke woman was suffering from internal injuries, a fractured hip and a bruised face after the incident on North Shore Road.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. near the Perfume Factory and left the victim trapped in the driver's seat.
After fire fighters dislodged the lady, she was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
Police investigators re-routed traffic for several hours, causing long delays in the east end.
A Police spokesperson said the car was "extensively damaged''.
